Both were raised in the NW suburbs of Chicago, they met through mutual friends. Lindsey works for the family business and Rafael is an attorney.  Says Lindsey, the “wedding day was beautiful – beyond my dream wedding.” A long engagement allowed Lindsey to thoroughly enjoy ever bit of the planning process. The stunning wedding gown is Ines Di Santo’s “Carlotta.” Lindsey was measured in New York by Ines herself during the NY Bridal Market (what a treat!) and a few months later she and her mother flew to Toronto to Ines’ Bridal Boutique and Design Studio for her first fitting. The wedding ceremony was held at Holy Name Cathedral and the reception at the beautifully remodeled Grand Ballroom at the Four Seasons. (The “After party” was held in state room at the Four Seasons.) The darling short dress Lindsey wore to the After Party was very special. “It was my grandmother Majorie Durbin’s wedding gown that she wore in 1950. She had given it to another relative but with Grandma’s help we were able to track it down 3 months before the wedding. I tried it on and it fit like a glove. A close family friend, Jane Heflin, transformed a conservative a-line, long sleeve, scoop neck, lace gown into the “darling short dress” for the after party. My grandmother passed away March 30, 2010 exactly 60 day before my wedding.  My grandma and I were very close.  It meant the world to me to be able to honor my grandma and her memory by wearing her gown on my big day.” Larry King Orchestra (15 piece plus turntablist) provided the entertainment. Lindsey liked the Orchestra’s very unique sound that integrates a turntablist. By integrating the turntablist they are able to recreate recent hits that the other orchestras could not. The turntablist began the After Party with 5 or 6 salsa and latin grooves as a nod to Rafael’s heritage. I hope you had a great long weekend and got to spend a little extra time with your loved ones. Let’s jump start the week with a little celebration of family, shall we? A couple of months ago Mattie contacted me for adoption party ideas for friends celebrating the adoption of their two daughters. Needless to say, I was thrilled to have her get back in touch with photos from the celebration. Jenny Gilbert designed the adorable invitations, which were double-sided post cards and featured cute illustrations of the entire Lawrence family – including their pet dogs, chickens and goat! The Lawrence girls asked to have guests bring teddy bears to donate to Brave Heart Children in Need, an organization that donates care packages to foster children as they are taken into care. This cute sign greeted guests (and their bears) upon their arrival: They celebrated in the back yard with a giant inflatable carnival slide, a DIY photo booth and lots of sweet personal touches. I suggested they include a photo line with snapshots of the girls and their new family and a thumbprint family tree guest book. I love seeing how it all came together! Teodora and Nick were married in Sofia, Bulgaria in a celebration with serious international flair, and Vienna based wedding photographer Claire Morgan Photography was on hand to capture it all so beautifully! The Goals: Teodora and Nick simply wanted their Sofia, Bulgaria wedding to be stylish and elegant, and to include both modern and traditional Bulgarian details to reflect their international backgrounds. To achieve this they decided on the luxurious Kempinski Hotel as the wedding venue for their incredible food and local wine selention, and most of all for their stunning Japanese Gardens. The Design: Using a warm, summery coral and ivory wedding color palette, the design of the decor was inspired by Teodora and Nick's wedding invitations, which were made by a local Sofia invitation artist. Coral and ivory floral arrangements from Agency Diamanti decorated the hotel's lobby (where their traditional Orthodox wedding ceremony was relocated from the gardens because of bad weather) as well as the ballroom where the reception took place. The Look: Teodora's gorgeous wedding gown, which she adored every moment of wearing, was an ivory Pagoda dress from San Patrick. Her look was elegant, natural and timeless, and as she explained, “I just wanted to be myself on my wedding day. I didn't want to change my hair style or my makeup to a level where I would look totally different.” I love the simplicity and soft modern look she created by wearing her long hair down! Teodora's bridesmaids wore coral colored dresses and accessories from H&M that they looked radiant in; another reason Teodora chose that color palette for the wedding! The flower girls wore little ivory dresses and floral headbands, and Nick and his groomsmen wore traditional tuxedos from Anthony Blay Menswear in England. The Moments: After a meaningful and sentimental ceremony, and beautiful photos taken with Claire in the Japanese Gardens, the day became even more memorable when Teodora's father surprised everyone by bringing in a troupe of traditional Bulgarian dancers from Teodora's hometown. “The majority of the dancers were children and they were so beautiful and talented. All of our guests were truly surprised and fascinated!” Amazing! The night went on with music and dancing and the cutting of their towering mascarpone and wild berry filled wedding cake, which was decorated with fresh flowers in coral and ivory.
